Huw Lloyd: I am a U.K born ceramic artist who migrated as a teacher to N.Z in 1974 and lives in Poverty Bay Gisborne. If art is the idea and craft the act - you act out the idea through art and craft. My principles of art are patterns of nature, history and our perceptions of reality - plus having an idea of the future and practising a craft allowing for a pursuit of art. My interest is form and finish and the multi-dimensional effect of telecommunication product, traditional pottery and the archeological record. These vases represent socket connections and chimney landscapes carried along by traffic and design where form is paramount and subject to finish, with power the picture and meaning and effect our perceptions of reality.
